Timber hand tools bequest, March 2016
Pat Quinn is the son of a carpenter-joiner who trained in the old School of Trades in Linenhall. Pat qualified as an Engineer at the College of Technology, Bolton St., and in 1956 emigrated to Canada where he was a founding partner of Quinn Dressel Associates. His firm became one of Canada’s foremost structural engineering firms responsible for many landmark buildings throughout North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He has been on the Board of the DIT Foundation for many years.
Hands and tools at the presentation of the Pat Quinn bequest event
On 14th March Pat returned and presented the Dublin School of Architecture with the first part of a collection of beautiful antique planes and other hand tools. In thanks for his kind gifts (which will in the future be displayed and used in the School) some of the DT169-3 timber technologists will make an object for him using these antique tools.
