Graduated with Certificate and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from DIT, followed by fellowship examination awarded by the Institute of Biomedical Science (UK). Ph. D awarded by TCD in 1996 for thesis titled "Antigen Expression in Uterine Cervical Carcinogenesis" based on the phenotypic evaluation of normal and neoplastic cervical lesions.
Post-certificate worked as a medical laboratory technician/senior laboratory technician in Histopathology departments in Cork University hospital, St Vincent's hospital, Dublin and Ibn-al-Bitar hospital, Baghdad.
Commenced lecturing in 1994. Lecturing topics include Histochemistry, Immunohistochemistry, Cancer diagnostics and research. Lecturer to undergraduate, Post-graduate and Diploma students of Biomedical Science and Molecular Pathology.
Research and Academic Interests:
Research interests include the investigation and diagnosis of cervical cancer, molecular analysis of human papillomavirus infections and shellfish pathology; with three post-graduate students currently working in these areas.
